Ostend Station
Ostend Station is the terminus of the line from Brussels and one of the most important terminal stations on the Belgian coast. The monumental building from 1913, with its striking clock tower, was thoroughly restored during the 2010s and extended with a modern passenger terminal. Coastal trams to De Panne and Knokke also depart from the station.
The station is very wheelchair-friendly. All platforms can be reached on the level and there are no thresholds or steps at the main entrance. Adapted toilets are available in the station hall. The SNCB/NMBS Assistance service offers free support to and from the train, provided a reservation is made at least three hours in advance. Staff are familiar with the needs of travellers with a disability.
In front of the station are the adapted stops of the Coastal Tram (Kusttram), which is almost entirely accessible to wheelchair users. Reduced-mobility parking spaces are available on the station square. A visit combines nicely with a ride on the Coastal Tram to the beach or a stroll along the Ostend sea dyke.
