The Sterrebos in Wilrijk is a fine example of an eighteenth-century star wood, a garden style in which paths radiate in a star pattern from a central point through the woodland. The wood was originally laid out as a hunting estate of an aristocratic country house and is today a beloved neighbourhood park with sweeping beech avenues, old limes and open lawns. The characteristic geometric layout makes the Sterrebos a unique green spot on the southern edge of Antwerp, popular with walkers, cyclists and local families.

Accessibility is good thanks to the level terrain and wide paths. The main paths from the central star section are wide, level and paved with concrete blocks or solid gravel, comfortable for a wheelchair or rollator. Benches are provided at several spots. The central rondel offers a pleasant place to pause and enjoy the view across the monumental trees. Accessible facilities are not permanently present in the park itself, but are available at the nearby Bist with cafes and shops.

At the main entrances on-street parking is possible, and there are a few accessible spaces near the nearby St Bavo's Church. The entrances are level and step-free. The Sterrebos lends itself perfectly to a short relaxed walk during a visit to Antwerp, and combines well with a visit to the Middelheim Museum a few minutes' drive away.
