Vleeshuis Dendermonde
The Vleeshuis (Meat Hall) of Dendermonde is a beautiful Gothic building from the fourteenth century, located on the Grote Markt. Originally it served as a covered meat market and it is one of the best-preserved examples of this type of architecture in Flanders. Today the building houses exhibitions and cultural events that highlight the rich past of Dendermonde, including the famous Ros Beiaard tradition.
The accessibility of the Vleeshuis is partial. The historic character of the building brings some limitations. The ground floor is reachable, but some parts of the building have thresholds or narrow passages that can be difficult for wheelchair users. An adapted toilet is available nearby. It is advisable to contact the venue in advance to discuss current accessibility.
The Vleeshuis is located on the Grote Markt of Dendermonde, in the centre of the city. Accessible parking spaces are available on the square and in the surrounding streets. The train station is within walking distance. A visit to the Vleeshuis combines history with the pleasant atmosphere of Dendermonde's Grote Markt.
