Warande Diest
De Warande is the historic city park of Diest, situated on a hill at the edge of the centre. This centuries-old park was once the hunting estate of the Lords of Diest and the Princes of Orange-Nassau. Today it is a beloved green spot for walkers and nature lovers. The park offers shady avenues, ponds, and a beautiful view over the city and the Demer valley.
The main paths in the Warande are paved and well maintained, making the park suitable for wheelchair users. The entrances are step-free and there are benches along the route. Be aware that some side paths are steeper due to the hilly location. The adapted toilet is located at the main entrance of the park.
A car park is available at the entrance of the Warande with reserved accessible spaces. The park is a short distance from the centre of Diest and the train station. A walk through the Warande is ideally combined with a visit to the nearby Beguinage.
