WIELS
WIELS is a leading contemporary art centre housed in the former Blomme building of the Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery in Forest. Designed by architect Adrien Blomme in 1931, the building is a rare surviving example of modernist industrial architecture in Brussels. Since opening in 2007, WIELS offers three exhibition platforms with a total area of 1,800 square metres, an auditorium, studio workshops for artists-in-residence, a bookshop and a welcoming cafe in the former brewing hall.
WIELS is well accessible for wheelchair users. Access is through the car park at the rear of the building, where lifts are available. All exhibition floors are accessible via a spacious lift. The cafe, bookshop and sanitary facilities are also wheelchair accessible. Adapted restrooms are available on several floors. Accessible parking spaces are available in the vicinity.
WIELS is located at Avenue Van Volxem 354 in Forest and is easily reached by public transport. Forest-Midi train station is just a few minutes' walk away. Tram stops are also nearby. A visit to WIELS combines well with a walk through leafy Forest and the neighbouring Duden Park.
