The Zeebermduinen form a small but valuable dune reserve between Ostend and Middelkerke, at the level of Mariakerke. The area protects old, moss-rich dunes with special flora and fauna that you encounter less often elsewhere on the Flemish coast. The dunes are surrounded by the built-up area of Mariakerke, but form an oasis of calm and nature.

Accessibility is partial. The adjoining sea dike section is level and completely paved, with beautiful views of the dunes and the sea. From the sea dike, several vantage points and benches are wheelchair accessible. In the reserve itself, the paths are mostly loose sand or wooden duckboards, which is less suitable for regular wheelchairs; an electric wheelchair or beach wheelchair (borrowable via the city of Ostend) offers more possibilities.

Disabled parking spaces are available along the Northlaan and the sea dike. Public toilets can be found at the Mariakerke beach. The area is free to enter all year round. Dogs must be on the lead.
