♿ Wheelchair accessible

B&B De Kiezel sits on the edge of Hasselt towards Diepenbeek, in a quiet stretch of greenery between the city and the Hoge Kempen National Park. The B&B is housed in a renovated villa with four rooms, of which room Lavendel (42 m²) on the ground floor is fully adapted for wheelchair users. De Kiezel was recognised by VisitFlanders with the VisitFlanders A-accessibility label — the basic accessibility standard that is verified through a physical audit by Inter Vlaanderen.

The adapted room has step-free access to both the bedroom and the bathroom, a roll-in shower with grab rails, a raised toilet with armrest, and a roll-under washbasin. The turning circle next to and at the foot of the bed is generous enough for independent wheelchair manoeuvres. A private terrace gives you your own outdoor space without having to cross a threshold.

The shared spaces — breakfast room and lounge — are on the ground floor and step-free. An adapted toilet is also available in the shared area. The own parking at the entrance has enough room for a flat transfer from the car. Combine a stay with a Hasselt citytrip or a day at Bokrijk at 10 minutes driving. For the current status of the A-label you can always verify via visitflanders.com/toegankelijkheid/label.

Good to know

Reservation
Specifically reserve **room Lavendel** when booking — that is the adapted ground-floor room with roll-in shower, grab rails and private terrace. Other rooms are not fully adapted.
Busy and quiet times
The Hasselt Jenever festival (last weekend of July) and summer holidays are the busiest; midweek autumn/winter bookings give the best rates and guarantee room Lavendel.
Things to note
**Step-free access** to room and bathroom, **roll-in shower** with grab rails, wide doors. Generous turning circle. Adapted toilet inside the room itself. Verify current A-label status via [visitflanders.com/toegankelijkheid/label](https://www.visitflanders.com/nl/toegankelijkheid/label).
Visit tip
Own parking at the entrance. Hasselt centre is just minutes away by car or bus 1 (low-floor). Combine with [Bokrijk](/en/locaties/bokrijk/) at 10 min driving, or a [Hasselt citytrip](/en/blog/citytrip-hasselt-wheelchair-1-day/).
