Brasserie du Grand-Place Mons
Brasserie du Grand-Place sits on the charming Grand-Place of Mons, directly opposite the imposing late-Gothic town hall. It offers classic Walloon and Belgian brasserie dishes: Hainaut pies, mussels in season, beef stew with fries and homemade soups. During the warmer months the terrace on the square is a popular spot to watch the city pass by, with a view of the town hall facade and the belfry of Mons.
The ground-floor dining room is step-free through the main entrance. The interior has a classic layout but still offers enough space between the tables to manoeuvre a wheelchair. There is an adapted toilet on the ground floor with grab bars and sufficient turning space. The terrace is reachable via a small chamfered ramp onto the square, although the cobblestones on the Grand-Place are locally uneven.
The Grand-Place of Mons is mostly cobbled, which can feel bumpy for wheelchair users. Around the square itself, however, there are level pavements. Adapted parking spaces are available in the underground car park beneath the Grand-Place, which is fitted with a lift. Mons station is about ten minutes' walk away and reachable via a paved, partly sloping route.
