Brasserie Ethica Mons
Brasserie Ethica in Mons sits prominently on the Grand Place, opposite the town hall with its famous "Singe du Grand-Garde". The brasserie is decorated in a contemporary, bright style, with large windows overlooking the square. Sustainability is the central concept: products are sourced as much as possible within a 50-kilometre radius of the city, and the menu changes with the seasons. Classics such as vol-au-vent and Liège-style meatballs alternate with vegetarian creations and daily fresh fish suggestions.
Ethica was designed with accessibility as a starting point. The main entrance is step-free with automatic sliding doors, and the large ground-floor room offers wide aisles between the tables. An accessible toilet is provided on the same level, with enough turning room and grab rails. A spacious terrace on the square is reachable via a completely flat transition and offers a unique view of the bustling life of Mons in the warmer months.
Accessibility of the immediate surroundings is slightly more complex due to the cobbles of the Grand Place. The underground car park beneath the square does have a lift and accessible spaces, which is a convenient option. The belfry of Mons, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is a few hundred metres away, and the accessible Mundaneum is also within easy reach.
