Café De Gulden Kop is one of the oldest cafés in Hasselt, with a warm brown-pub atmosphere, a resounding sound system, and a menu on which Hasselt jenever features prominently. An extensive beer menu with local Limburg brews, a selection of regional snacks, and small dishes such as ham and eggs or cheese platters make it a popular address, both for people from Hasselt and visitors.

The entrance has a small raised threshold of a few centimetres - for most wheelchair users bridgeable with assistance or a portable ramp, which is placed by the staff on request. Once inside, the ground floor space is level, but the tables stand fairly close together which is typical of a cosy traditional café. The toilet is reachable via a narrow corridor and is quite compact, which can be a challenge for larger wheelchairs.

The café is located in the low-traffic city centre of Hasselt. The underground Dusartplein Car Park with lift is a mere three hundred metres away and has reserved spaces. From Hasselt Station it is a step-free wheelchair walk of about ten minutes via the Stationsstraat and through the Havermarkt.
