Brouwerij De Halve Maan Bruges
Brouwerij De Halve Maan is an iconic family brewery in the heart of Bruges, known for the beers Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik. The brewery has been brewing on the same Walplein site since 1856 and is famous for the underground beer pipeline that carries the brewed beer to the bottling plant outside the city. Visitors can follow a tour, discover the brewing process and explore the historic building, finishing with a Brugse Zot in the brasserie-restaurant.
Accessibility is partial due to the historic character of the building. The standard tour involves steep stairs and is not suitable for wheelchair users, but the brewery offers an adapted tour on request with a lift and an alternative route. The brasserie, shop and a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the ground floor are reached via a level entrance. It is advisable to book ahead and specifically request the adapted tour.
Parking in the centre of Bruges is limited, but there are car parks within walking distance such as Zand or 't Zand with accessible spaces. Walplein itself is a low-traffic zone with cobblestones and setts; a companion can be useful for the last few metres to the entrance. A visit combines excellently with the nearby Minnewaterpark and the Beguinage.
