The Bruges Model Boat Museum is a private museum that presents an impressive collection of historic ship models, ranging from medieval cargo ships and 17th-century warships to modern container vessels. The museum is housed in a typical Bruges townhouse, which defines both the charm and the limitations of a visit. Lovers of maritime history and shipbuilding technology will find here a unique overview of centuries of nautical evolution.

Accessibility is partial. The main entrance on the street side has two historic steps without a permanent ramp. The owner places a portable ramp on request. The ground floor with the first part of the collection is then accessible, with limited turning space between the display cases. The main collection and the themed rooms are located on the upper floors and are reachable only via a historic staircase. There is no fully accessible toilet; accessible toilets are available at the nearby Groeningemuseum.

Parking in the historic centre of Bruges is challenging; Parking 't Zand with an adapted lift is the most accessible alternative. The surroundings are paved with historic cobblestones, which requires careful route planning. For a comfortable approach it is best to follow the level strips along the Dijver. Combine your visit with the accessible Groeningemuseum and the Arentshof.
