Coffee Museum Bruges
The Coffee Museum in Bruges is a unique museum dedicated to the worldwide history of coffee, from its origins in Ethiopia via Arabic expansion to Europe and today's global coffee culture. Housed in a historic building in Bruges' old town, the museum combines historic coffee objects, antique coffee grinders, interactive multimedia displays and a bean-to-cup experience. Visitors conclude their tour with a tasting of freshly brewed coffee in the museum's coffee bar.
The museum has been adapted for wheelchair accessibility despite the historic nature of the building. The entrance has been made accessible and all floors are reachable by lift. The exhibition rooms are step-free and laid out generously. The tasting area in the coffee bar has tables at a suitable height for wheelchair users. An adapted toilet is available.
Parking in Bruges' old town is limited; the 't Zand or Biekorf car parks with accessible spaces are a few minutes away. The streets around the museum include some cobblestones, requiring extra care. The Coffee Museum is an excellent addition to a visit to the Frietmuseum, Choco-Story or Bruges' Markt for a full culinary heritage day.
