The Casino-Kursaal of Ostend is one of the most iconic buildings on the Belgian coast. The current modernist building was designed in 1953 by architect Leon Stynen and replaced the prestigious nineteenth-century Kursaal that was destroyed during the war. The Kursaal today houses a casino, a large concert hall and several event rooms, and is renowned for its splendid view over the North Sea. World stars such as Marvin Gaye and Leo Ferre performed here, and every year major concerts, conferences and parties take place that give Ostend a lively cultural life.

Accessibility has been largely worked out, although a few limitations exist due to the historic character. The main entrance on the seafront has a ramp, and most halls are reachable by lift. In the large concert hall, wheelchair spaces are provided on raised platforms with a clear view of the stage. Adapted toilets are available on several floors. The casino itself is wheelchair friendly with sufficient space between the gaming tables. Reserve your adapted spot for concerts well in advance via the ticket service.

Disabled parking spaces are available in the underground car park beneath the Kursaal and on the Albert I promenade. The seafront in front of the building is fully paved and excellent for wheelchairs. Ostend station is about a ten-minute walk away with an accessible platform. Combine your visit with a trip along the seafront or a stop at Mu.ZEE, just minutes from the Kursaal.
