♿ Wheelchair accessible

De Bijloke Music Centre in Ghent is a unique concert venue housed in the medieval infirmary hall of the old Bijloke Abbey. The impressive, lofty Gothic building from the thirteenth century was carefully restored in the 1980s and 1990s and today offers acoustics that are praised internationally. De Bijloke programmes classical music, chamber music, contemporary compositions and world music, with an emphasis on deep listening experiences. The atmosphere of the hall, with its wooden beams, white walls and discreet lighting, enhances every performance.

Accessibility is good. The main entrance to the music centre has a ramp, and the entire reception area is step-free. In the concert hall there are dedicated wheelchair spaces with a clear view of the stage and right next to an accessible toilet. Reserve these spaces in advance with the ticket office, by phone or email. A cloakroom and bar are on the ground floor and easily usable. Companions receive a free ticket on presentation of a European parking card or comparable document.

Parking is possible in the underground Sint-Pietersplein car park a few minutes' drive away, with accessible spaces and a step-free route to De Bijloke. The 'Sint-Pieters' tram stop serves the centre well. Combine a concert visit with a walk through the historic Bijloke Site itself, with its old abbey buildings and the STAM city museum.
