Felix Pakhuis Antwerp
The Felix Pakhuis on the Godefriduskaai is a stately nineteenth-century harbour warehouse that, after a thorough restoration, was given a new purpose as a city archive, exhibition space and event venue. The neoclassical building, with its distinctive interior street under a glass roof, is a striking example of successful reuse of industrial port heritage in the Eilandje. Visitors here will find the Felix archive, regularly changing exhibitions and a welcoming brasserie offering.
Accessibility is remarkably good for a historic building. The main entrance is step-free and the central interior street is completely flat and wide enough for wheelchairs. Lifts serve all floors and an accessible toilet is available on the ground floor. The reading and exhibition spaces have wide passages and solid paved floors.
The Felix Pakhuis lies on the edge of the MAS square in the redeveloped Eilandje district. Accessible parking spaces can be found directly on the Godefriduskaai and in the underground MAS car park. Tram 7 stops a few minutes walk away. The whole quay has been laid out in a wheelchair-friendly way and offers fine views of the old harbour docks.
