De Peerdestal
De Peerdestal is an iconic restaurant in the heart of Antwerp, established for nearly fifty years at Wijngaardstraat 8, within walking distance of the Grote Markt and the Cathedral of Our Lady. The name refers to the building's past as a horse stable, and that atmosphere is still palpable in the warm interior with its wooden elements, red leather seats, and impressive chandeliers. The restaurant is renowned for its ageing cabinets where meat is artisanally dry-aged, resulting in an intense and deep flavour.
Accessibility at De Peerdestal is excellent. The main entrance is step-free and wide enough for wheelchairs. The ground floor offers generous pathways between tables, and the adapted toilet on the ground floor is fitted with grab rails and sufficient turning space. The staff are attentive and happy to help find a suitable seating position.
De Peerdestal is situated on the Hendrik Conscienceplein, one of Antwerp's most beautiful squares, surrounded by the Baroque Saint Charles Borromeo Church and historic facades. The Wijngaardstraat is evenly paved and flat. Parking with a disability card is available in the immediate vicinity, and trams 3 and 9 stop at the nearby Groenplaats.
