♿ Wheelchair accessible

The marina of Nieuwpoort, with moorings for more than two thousand boats, is one of the largest yacht harbours in Northern Europe. The area behind the IJzer estuary is a true walking destination: wide paved quays, jetties, fisherman's cottages and a row of terraces create a lively and relaxed atmosphere. You can admire boats, watch sailing races set off and, in summer, join publicly accessible activities on the water.

The harbour promenade is well laid out for wheelchair users. The main quays are paved, flat and wide enough to cross each other easily. Benches with armrests are placed at several points. The café and restaurant terraces are mostly step-free; a few older buildings still have a small step. Adapted public toilets are available at the VVW yacht club and at the welcome pavilions near the lighthouse. The mooring jetties themselves can be reached via fixed walkways, though the floating pontoons are not suitable for independent wheelchair access.

The large car park along the Robert Orlentpromenade has dozens of reserved spaces right by the harbour. The Nieuwpoort Stad coastal tram stop is about ten minutes from the marina along a fully paved pavement. The route runs at ground level or with gentle slopes, with no steps.
