Sport- en Recreatiecentrum Kattevennen
Kattevennen is a sports and recreation centre on the edge of Genk and forms one of the gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park. The estate offers a unique combination of nature, sport, and science. You will find walking paths through the Kempen heathland, a planetarium (Cosmodrome), playgrounds, and an adventure course. It is a popular destination for families and nature lovers.
The main paths through Kattevennen are paved and suitable for wheelchair users. The visitor centre is step-free and has adapted toilets. Specific wheelchair-friendly walking routes are marked out through the nature reserve. The Cosmodrome is also wheelchair accessible. Note that some unpaved side paths are less suitable.
Kattevennen has a spacious free car park with reserved accessible spaces. The estate is reachable by car via the main entrance to the site. A city bus also runs from the centre of Genk. Kattevennen is an excellent starting point for an accessible nature walk in the Hoge Kempen.
