Natuurpunt Rotselaar Beemden
The Rotselaar Beemden are an extensive nature reserve along the River Dijle, with wet grasslands, reed beds and flowering meadows. The area is an important habitat for meadow birds, roe deer and many plants typical of historic river meadows. Natuurpunt has managed the Beemden for decades with the aim of restoring the original biodiversity and offers visitors a wide range of walking opportunities.
An adapted walking route with a paved path runs parallel to the Dijle and passes several viewpoints and a small information zone. The path is wide enough for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and handbikes. Rest benches along the trail offer comfortable stopping points. A partially adapted toilet is available at the nearby car park.
The car park offers adapted parking spaces and a fully paved access route to the start of the walk. Access to the area is free and dogs are welcome on a lead. Adapted bus stops on the way to the centre of Rotselaar are within a short walking distance. Natuurpunt regularly organises themed walks in which the adapted route is part of the programme.
