Rockox House Antwerp
The Rockox House is the former home of Nicolaas Rockox, mayor of Antwerp and patron of Peter Paul Rubens. Today, together with the adjoining Snijders&Rockox House, it forms a museum presenting an exceptional collection of Antwerp masters, including works by Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens and Snyders. The interior evokes the atmosphere of a wealthy 17th-century town palace, with art cabinets, an inner garden and historic furniture.
The museum is partially accessible to wheelchair users. The main entrance is barrier-free thanks to a gentle ramp, and the ground-floor rooms, including the inner garden, are easily reachable. Some rooms on the upper floors can only be accessed by historic stairs. An adapted toilet is available in the ground-floor sanitary area. Wide passages on the ground floor allow a smooth visit.
The area around Keizerstraat has paved pavements, with cobblestones in places. There is no dedicated car park, but the public Oudaan car park with adapted spaces lies a few minutes' wheelchair distance away. Visitors with a European Disability Card and their companion receive free admission to the museum.
