Roger Raveel Museum Machelen-Zulte
The Roger Raveel Museum in Machelen-aan-de-Leie is dedicated to the oeuvre of the Flemish painter Roger Raveel (1921-2013), one of the pioneers of post-war figurative painting in Belgium. The museum lies in the middle of his native village in the Leie region and shows both work by Raveel himself and changing exhibitions with contemporary artists who enter into dialogue with his vision.
The museum building was designed with accessibility in mind. All rooms are on the same level or reachable via a lift. The entrance is step-free, with wide sliding doors, and the circulation spaces are generously dimensioned. An adapted toilet and reserved parking spaces close to the entrance make a visit comfortable. Wheelchairs can be borrowed on request.
The surroundings of the museum also lend themselves to a pleasant walk along the Leie, where Raveel created his village images. The museum café offers a quiet spot with a view of the inner garden. For people with a disability a discount rate applies and the companion is admitted free of charge.
