Sportkern Zemst

Sportkern Zemst forms the central sports complex of the municipality of Zemst, located between Mechelen and Vilvoorde. It includes a sports hall for indoor sports, outdoor football fields, tennis courts, and versatile spaces for associations. The infrastructure is used daily by local clubs, schools, and recreational sportspeople.

The sports hall is wheelchair accessible: the main entrance is step-free with wide sliding doors, and in the changing room zone an adapted cubicle is provided with a fold-down bench, handrails, and a step-free shower. Adapted toilets are present in several places. Wheelchair sportspeople (wheelchair basketball, boccia, sitting volleyball) can use the hall by appointment, with good support from the operators.

At the entrance there are several disabled parking spaces. The cafeteria on the ground floor is level accessible and overlooks the sports fields. Sportkern Zemst is reachable by public transport via the nearby bus stop. The municipality regularly organises inclusive sports and play afternoons in which children with and without a disability can participate together.
