Hasselt Station
Hasselt Station is the main station of the province of Limburg and an important hub for rail traffic to Antwerp, Liège and Brussels. The modern station building opened in 2013 as part of the Quartier Bleu project and, together with the stations of Leuven and Liège-Guillemins, is one of the most accessible major stations in Belgium.
The station was designed with accessibility as a priority. All platforms are reachable by spacious lifts and escalators, and the entire station hall is step-free and on one level. Adapted toilets are available on the ground floor. Tactile guidelines for blind and visually impaired travellers run throughout the hall to the lifts and platforms. SNCB/NMBS Assistance offers free support, which can be booked via 02 528 28 28 or online, at least three hours in advance.
The station surroundings have been completely redesigned and offer space for buses, taxis and cyclists, with wide wheelchair-accessible pavements. Reduced-mobility parking spaces are available in the underground Blue Gate car park. The centre of Hasselt, including the Japanese Garden and the Quartier Bleu shopping centre, is easily reachable via adapted public transport.
