The Municipal Museum Wuyts-Van Campen and Baron Caroly in Lier is a surprisingly rich city museum, housed in a stately building on Florent Van Cauwenberghstraat. The museum holds an important collection of paintings by Flemish and Dutch masters from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, with works by Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Frans Floris and Hendrik van Balen, among others. In addition, the museum tells the history of the city of Lier, with attention for local figures such as Felix Timmermans and Lodewijk Van Boeckel. Together with the Zimmer Museum and the Beguinage, it forms an attractive cultural trail through the old town.

Accessibility was addressed during the recent renovation. The main entrance has a ramp, and a lift connects all floors of the museum. The galleries are spacious enough for wheelchair users and the works are displayed at readable height. An adapted toilet is available on the ground floor. The reception staff are ready to assist and can provide an audio guide or a guided tour on request.

Parking is possible at the nearby Grote Markt car park or at Lier station, both with disabled parking spaces. The station is about a ten-minute walk away. Be aware of some cobblestone sections in the old town. Combine your visit to the Municipal Museum with a walk through the Beguinage, an accessible UNESCO World Heritage site nearby.
