♿ Wheelchair accessible

Technopolis is the Flemish hands-on science and technology centre, located in Mechelen. Since its opening in 2000, the centre has offered visitors the chance to experiment themselves and discover how science and technology are part of everyday life. With hundreds of interactive experiments, spectacular shows in the auditorium and changing exhibitions, Technopolis is a fascinating destination for young and old alike.

Wheelchair accessibility at Technopolis is very well thought out. The centre is easily accessible by wheelchair or pushchair. A slope makes it easy to move between the upper and lower floors, and a lift is available upon request. There is ample manoeuvring space throughout the exhibition area. The toilets are wheelchair accessible. Only the auditorium where shows take place has more limited accessibility due to the stepped seating, though the front row remains reachable.

Technopolis organises a low-stimulus day every quarter for visitors with sensory processing difficulties. In the Doolhoofd zone, audio clips are translated into Flemish Sign Language. There is a hearing loop system in the auditorium, cinema and Doolhoofd introductory area for hearing aid users. With its inclusive approach and scientific experience, Technopolis is a top destination for everyone.
