Textile Museum Kortrijk
The Texture Textile Museum in Kortrijk highlights the centuries-old textile tradition of the Leie region, which developed around the flax and linen industry. The museum is housed in an imposing early 20th-century warehouse on the River Leie, a building that itself testifies to the industrial heyday of the region. Through interactive installations, historic looms and fashion collections, visitors learn how Kortrijk grew into an international hub of textile innovation.
Texture's layout prioritises universal accessibility. The main entrance is barrier-free with a modern ramp. The central hall and all exhibition floors are reachable via a spacious lift. Adapted toilets are provided on every floor, with grab rails, a lowered washbasin and sufficient turning space. Throughout the permanent and temporary exhibitions there are wide passages and information at different heights.
The museum shop and the ground-floor cafeteria are fully accessible, with a pleasant terrace area on the Leie. The underground Texture car park offers reserved spaces with lift access to the museum. The surrounding Leie banks have been redesigned with level paved pavements and provide a pleasant link to the accessible centre of Kortrijk and the Broel Museums.
