Villa Empain
Villa Empain is a stunning Art Deco mansion on Avenue Franklin Roosevelt in Brussels, built between 1930 and 1934 to designs by the Swiss-Belgian architect Michel Polak. The house was commissioned by Baron Louis Empain, son of the industrialist Edouard Empain. After a meticulous restoration, the villa reopened in 2010 as a cultural centre managed by the Boghossian Foundation. It hosts temporary exhibitions promoting dialogue between East and West, along with events and concerts in an enchanting interior of marble, silver and exotic woods.
Villa Empain is fully wheelchair accessible. The entrance is fitted with a ramp and a lift connects all floors of the building. The wide corridors and open exhibition spaces make it comfortable to navigate the building by wheelchair. Adapted restrooms are available. Accessible parking spaces can be found along Avenue Roosevelt.
The villa is located in the affluent neighbourhood near the Bois de la Cambre, within walking distance of tram stops along Avenue Louise. A visit combines perfectly with a stroll through the Bois de la Cambre or the nearby Leopold Park. Brussels-Luxembourg train station is also close by.
