Vrijbroekpark Mechelen
The Provincial Domain Vrijbroekpark in Mechelen is one of the most beautiful and varied parks in the province of Antwerp. On about 100 hectares you will find a rose garden with thousands of flowering plants, an observatory, a petting zoo, ponds, and extensive play meadows. The park is free to enter and is a popular destination for families and nature lovers.
Vrijbroekpark is excellently accessible for wheelchair users. The main paths are wide, paved, and level, without thresholds. The rose garden and the central pavilion are completely step-free. Adapted toilets are present at the reception building and at the petting zoo. Several disabled parking spaces are close to the various entrances. Wheelchairs can be borrowed on request at the park office.
At the petting zoo, visitors in a wheelchair can approach the animals up close via an adapted route. In the visitor centre there is a cafeteria with terrace on the ground floor. The park is open all year round, from sunrise to sunset, and connects perfectly with a cultural city trip in Mechelen.
