Antwerp Zoo Wheelchair Accessible
Antwerp Zoo, founded in 1843, is one of the oldest zoos in the world and an iconic landmark of the city of Antwerp. Located right next to Antwerp Central Station, the park is home to more than 950 animal species housed in beautiful, partly historic buildings and modern enclosures. From African elephants and okapis to exotic birds and reptiles, a visit to the Zoo is a fascinating journey through the animal kingdom.
Wheelchair accessibility has been thoughtfully implemented. Nearly all animal enclosures and buildings are reachable via paved, flat paths. All toilets in the park are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at the entrance, though advance reservation is recommended. The Zoo does not have its own car park, but the nearby Q-Park Astridplein offers disabled parking spaces within short distance of the entrance. The free On Wheels app allows visitors to check accessibility of all zones based on personal settings such as wheelchair width and maximum threshold height.
Companions of visitors with disabilities receive a discount on admission upon presentation of a European Disability Card. Groups can request a customised guided tour adapted to the mobility needs of the group. The restaurants and shops are also wheelchair accessible. Combining historic heritage, nature conservation and education, Antwerp Zoo is a top destination for everyone.
