Restaurant L'Atelier in Diest is a contemporary address with a market-led, seasonal kitchen at the heart of the historic town centre. The chef works with local products and refreshes classic Belgian dishes by combining them with French and Mediterranean influences. The monthly menu remains compact but carefully composed; for those wishing to be surprised, a four- or six-course tasting menu is available. The clean yet warm interior in a renovated townhouse features an open kitchen that adds life and atmosphere.

Accessibility is good. The main entrance on the Demerstraat is step-free from the pavement. The ground-floor dining room has plenty of clearance between tables and can be adjusted on request for wheelchair users. The accessible toilet is on the same level and is fitted with a grab rail and a lowered washbasin with good turning space. The staff are attentive and happy to help in choosing a suitable spot when you book.

Parking is possible on the Grote Markt or at the car park behind the Halve Maan, both with accessible spaces a few hundred metres away. The pavements in the town centre combine smooth sections with some cobbled stretches; the flattest route runs via the Demerstraat and the Botermarkt. Booking is recommended, especially at weekends, and mention a wheelchair when reserving for an easily reachable table.
