Bois Demeer is a friendly walking forest on the southern edge of Tienen, just minutes from the city centre. The forest has a long history as the estate of the Demeer family and was later opened to the public. Visitors will find tall deciduous woodland, a central pond, meadows and well-maintained walking loops. It is a popular spot for local residents looking for tranquillity, nature and a little elevation just outside the built-up area.

The main paths are wide and semi-paved with dolomite, and in dry weather they are well navigable for wheelchair users. A number of side paths are narrower or softer, especially after rainfall. The loop around the pond is largely flat and lies in the most accessible zone of the forest. Picnic tables and benches stand at flat rest points. An accessible toilet is not available within the forest, but it is in the nearby sports area and in the city centre.

Accessible parking spaces are located at the main entrance to the forest. From Tienen station, the forest is fifteen minutes away by car or via the accessible city bus. Combine a visit to Bois Demeer with the Tienen Sports Library or the Sugar Museum for a varied day in the Hageland region.
