♿ Wheelchair accessible

Het Eilandje is the oldest harbour district of Antwerp and today one of the most renewed parts of the city by the water. Around the Bonaparte dock, the Willem dock and the Kattendijk dock, historic warehouses, marinas and modern towers alternate. Landmarks such as the MAS, the Felix Pakhuis, the Red Star Line Museum and the Port House are within walking distance of each other. The district tells the rich maritime history of the city and has grown into a popular destination for walking, cycling and dining.

The entire public space in Het Eilandje has been redesigned with broad, flat paving and makes the district exceptionally wheelchair friendly. The quays have flush edges and solid tiles, and all museum entrances are step-free or fitted with a ramp. Accessible toilets are available in the MAS, the Red Star Line Museum and at various dining venues. Lowered kerbs and clear pedestrian crossings ensure safe crossings.

Parking is available in the underground car park beneath MAS square, with spacious accessible spaces and lifts to street level. Tram 7 connects Het Eilandje to the city centre and has low-floor vehicles. A wheelchair-accessible walk along the docks offers views of old harbour buildings, artworks and viewpoints over the water.
