In de Vrede is the official tasting house of the Saint Sixtus Abbey, where the legendary Trappist Westvleteren - regularly crowned one of the best beers in the world - is brewed. The café, directly opposite the abbey in the quiet rural West Flanders countryside, is the only place besides the abbey itself where you can drink Westvleteren 12, 8 and Blond on site. Visitors will also find a shop, restaurant and a permanent exhibition about the history and monastic life of the fathers.

The building is modern and excellently wheelchair accessible. The main entrance is flat and threshold-free, and the spacious brasserie is step-free with plenty of space between the tables. The shop and exhibition area are equally easy to reach. Adapted sanitary facilities with ample turning space are provided. The outdoor terrace has flat access and is fully usable in summer.

There is ample free parking right by the entrance, with clearly marked accessible spaces. The venue is secluded in Westvleteren and best reached by car. Anyone wanting to take home a six-pack of Westvleteren has to reserve through the abbey in advance; the beers are never continuously available, but drinking them in the café is a unique experience for beer lovers.
