MIAT - Museum of Industrial Archaeology and Textiles
MIAT is housed in a former cotton mill in the heart of Ghent and tells the story of the industrial revolution in what was the textile capital of the continent. Across multiple floors you can discover working machines, interactive exhibitions and the social history of factory workers. The museum connects past and present through temporary exhibitions on contemporary design and technology.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. A spacious freight lift connects all floors and the passageways are wide enough for wheelchairs. Interactive elements are placed at varying heights. Adapted toilets are available on multiple levels. Loan wheelchairs are available at the reception desk.
The museum is located in the centre of Ghent, near the Kraanlei. Accessible parking is available in the surrounding streets. MIAT can be reached via the Gravensteen tram stop. The museum shop and café are accessible at ground level.
