Mu.ZEE
Mu.ZEE is the museum of modern and contemporary Belgian art in Ostend. The museum was created in 2008 through the merger of the former Provincial Museum for Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts. The collection comprises over 1,800 artworks and focuses on Belgian art from 1830 onwards. Visitors discover masterpieces by James Ensor, Leon Spilliaert, Constant Permeke, Raoul De Keyser and many other important Belgian artists. The museum regularly organises temporary exhibitions alongside its permanent collection.
Mu.ZEE is fully wheelchair accessible. The museum has lifts serving all floors and the exhibition spaces are generously laid out with wide passages. The entrance on Romestraat is step-free. Adapted restrooms are available. Accessible parking spaces can be found in nearby streets.
The museum is located in the centre of Ostend, within walking distance of the beach and the seafront promenade. Ostend station is within walking distance and offers train connections across Belgium. The Coast Tram also stops nearby. A visit combines perfectly with a walk along the promenade or a visit to the nearby James Ensor House.
