Piercing Pirate Turnhout
Piercing Pirate is a piercing studio with branches in Turnhout and Antwerp — and the difference in wheelchair accessibility between the two campuses is significant. This page describes the Turnhout campus, which according to our first-hand experience is extremely wheelchair-friendly. For the Antwerp location: see Piercing Pirate Antwerp — unfortunately that one is not adapted.
The Turnhout campus has a step-free main entrance where you can easily enter with a wheelchair. The shop space offers sufficient manoeuvring room between the display cases. Practical point: some display cases are at standing height and difficult to see into from a wheelchair — but the staff are very proactive about this. They take piercings out of the display cases that match what you are looking for so that you can view everything properly.
Experience during the piercing (first-hand, 2026): the team set everything aside in the piercing cabin to ensure that the wheelchair user could remain seated during the piercing. The piercer adapted the setup around the wheelchair — moved everything — in order to carry out the work professionally without the client having to transfer. This approach perfectly illustrates what "extremely wheelchair accessible" concretely means: not only removing physical barriers, but also adapting the service itself to the visitor.
Our recommendation: for PRM visitors and wheelchair users, this is one of the most wheelchair-friendly piercing addresses we have come across. Encouraging for the sector as a whole.
Good to know
- Reservation
- Book your piercing appointment in advance by phone or via the website — mention when booking that you are a wheelchair user so the team can free up space in the piercing cabin.
- Busy and quiet times
- Weekends are busier. For a quiet experience: weekdays during the day.
- Things to note
- **Display cases sometimes too high** to see into properly from a wheelchair — but the staff actively take piercings out of the display cases that match what you are looking for. They adapt the piercing setup so that you can remain seated in the wheelchair.
- Visit tip
- **Verify in advance which campus you are visiting** — the Antwerp branch is NOT adapted (high threshold, difficult street). For wheelchair users, the Turnhout campus is THE recommended choice. Optionally combine with a [Touro Grill Turnhout](/en/horeca/touro-grill-turnhout/) lunch — both are within walking distance of each other.
