Koksijde Beach
The beach of Koksijde is a popular family beach with flat, wide stretches of sand and an attractive sea dyke. At low tide the beach is more than 300 metres wide, ideal for beach sports and walks. The seaside resort Koksijde-Bad is a cosy and lively coastal town with numerous restaurants and terraces along the sea dyke.
Koksijde is actively working on accessibility. Mobi-Mat beach paths have been placed at several locations along the sea dyke, leading onto the sand. During the summer months, free beach wheelchairs and Hippocampe wheelchairs are available at the lifeguard post on Zeelaanplein. Adapted toilets are present at the main beach entrances and in the tourist information office on Zeelaan.
Reduced-mobility parking spaces are provided on Zeelaan and at the renewed Casinoplein. The Coastal Tram stops at Koksijde-Bad with fully accessible boarding. The combination of a level sea dyke with accessible restaurants and wide beach transitions makes Koksijde a pleasant destination for wheelchair users and their family. The nearby Duinenabdijmuseum (Dune Abbey Museum) is also largely accessible.
