Oostduinkerke Beach Club
The beach club of Oostduinkerke, part of the municipality of Koksijde, is known for its family atmosphere, the horseback shrimp fishermen and a notable effort to make the beach accessible. During the summer season you can borrow a beach wheelchair free of charge: a lightweight wheelchair with wide tyres that can roll over soft sand. A swimming wheelchair for use at the waterline is also available, accompanied by trained lifeguards.
The beach club is located at the end of the paved seafront promenade of Oostduinkerke. Access to the beach is via a wooden boardwalk that runs to the water and is easy to roll over with a regular or beach wheelchair. The beach cabins in the club are partially adapted, with one cabin featuring a wide door, a fold-down seat and sufficient turning space. An adapted toilet is in the club building. It is best to reserve the beach wheelchair by phone at the club reception.
The seafront promenade itself is fully paved and barrier-free, with several reserved parking spaces at the access ramps. Oostduinkerke is reachable by coast tram via the Oostduinkerke-Bad stop, a few hundred metres from the club over a level and paved route. Connections with bus lines from Koksijde and Nieuwpoort are also possible with low-floor buses.
