Zuiderterras Antwerp
The Zuiderterras is one of the most recognisable modernist buildings on the Antwerp Scheldt quays. The pavilion was designed in 1991 by architect bOb Van Reeth as a nod to ship architecture, with its low silhouette, panoramic windows and blue accents. The building houses a brasserie where Antwerp residents and tourists meet with an unparalleled view of the River Scheldt and the skyline of the Left Bank.
Both the building and the surrounding Scheldt quays were made fully barrier-free during their recent redevelopment. The main entrance is reached via a level paved approach from the quayside promenade. The brasserie and the terrace are on the ground floor with wide passages and ample space between tables. The adapted toilet meets current PRM standards. The upper level is reachable by lift.
The Scheldt quays have paved pavements, several reserved parking spaces and ramps down to the water. The walk along the Scheldt is one of the most accessible urban routes in Belgium, ideal for handbikes and wheelchair users. Combine your visit with the MAS, the Red Star Line Museum or the accessible Steen pavilion, all within a short distance.
