Café 't Poatersgat Bruges
Café 't Poatersgat is a legendary Bruges beer house, housed in a medieval cellar under a guildhall on Vlamingstraat. The low vaults, the candlelit atmosphere and the impressive beer menu with more than one hundred and twenty Belgian beers make it one of the favourite spots for beer lovers in Bruges. The café only opens in the evenings.
Due to the historic nature of the building, 't Poatersgat is, unfortunately, not accessible for wheelchair users. Access is via a steep medieval staircase of eight steps without a handrail or alternative route. Inside, the floor continues down via several steps between the different cellar areas. There is no adapted sanitary facility; the toilet is even deeper in the cellar via another staircase.
For beer lovers with reduced mobility, we recommend De Garre a few streets away, or the accessible Bourgogne des Flandres brewery café on the Kraanrei. Around Vlamingstraat the paving is a mix of flat strips and cobbles; parking with a disabled permit is possible at the nearby Biekorf or 't Zand car park.
