Café Vlissinghe is the oldest café in Bruges, in business since 1515 and a timeless anchor in the city. The building breathes history with its wooden beams, original bar counter, fireplace and tiled floor. Guests can enjoy an extensive selection of local and Belgian beers, simple bites and traditional cheese platters. In summer the walled garden offers a quiet, green refuge away from the tourist crowds around the Markt.

Given its centuries-old construction, accessibility is remarkably good on the key points. The front door is step-free via a small ramp. The main room on the ground floor offers enough space between the tables to manoeuvre a wheelchair. The toilets, however, are on a lower level without a lift, which means they are not suitable for wheelchair users. When booking, the staff can help think through alternatives in the immediate vicinity.

The café is on Blekersstraat in the Sint-Anna district, a quiet part of Bruges with a mix of cobbled surfaces and level paving. The route from the centre is largely uneven but manageable for most wheelchair users. Parking spaces for holders of a disabled parking card can be found in Parking Katelijne or Parking Centrum Zand, both about ten minutes' drive away.
