♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Beguinage of Tongeren is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved Flemish beguinages and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Founded in the 13th century, it has retained its distinctive medieval atmosphere with picturesque white cottages, a church and small courtyards. It is a popular sight when visiting Belgium's oldest city.

Because of its historic character accessibility is partial. The streets are largely cobbled, which can be uncomfortable for wheelchair users, though there are smoother walking strips in some places. The courtyards and gardens are partly reachable via accessible routes. Accessible toilets are available in nearby cafés and public facilities.

Adapted parking spaces are available near the beguinage. It lies within walking distance of the Gallo-Roman Museum and the Basilica of Our Lady, making it a lovely stop on a cultural tour of Tongeren.
