Parc Saroleastraat in Eupen is an atmospheric pocket park at the heart of the German-speaking capital. The park sits just behind the market square and is experienced by many as a hidden oasis. With its old lime trees, colourful flower beds and romantic benches, it offers an ideal rest stop while exploring the centre of Eupen. Because of its modest size, the park feels especially intimate and is less busy than larger city parks.

All paths in Parc Saroleastraat are paved and entirely level. The park is small and can be taken in fully within ten minutes. In the centre there is an adapted resting area with benches at different heights and with armrests. The mature trees provide pleasant shade in summer, and the colourful flower beds bring visual variety throughout the seasons.

At the entrance on Saroleastraat there is a lowered kerb for easy wheelchair access. There is no accessible toilet in the park itself; the nearest accessible toilet is in the town hall on the Marktplaatz, five minutes away by wheelchair. Parking is possible in the underground car park beside the market square, with an accessible lift to street level and disabled spaces.

Parc Saroleastraat is an ideal stop during a wheelchair walk through the centre of Eupen. Combine the visit with a tour past the lovely Saint Nicholas Church, the Stadtmuseum Eupen or the Stadtpark Eupen for a full exploration of this charming Belgian-German-speaking town. For lovers of industrial heritage, a visit to the Verviers Industrial Museum, a twenty-minute drive away, is also a recommendation.
