Sea You Beach Knokke

Sea You is the accessible beach initiative of Knokke-Heist, one of the most fully developed adapted beach concepts on the Belgian coast. The zone is located on a marked-off section of Knokke's main beach and is opened in high season with permanent staffing. The concept is aimed at families with a wheelchair user, at seniors with reduced mobility and at holidaymakers with a temporary injury. The goal is for everyone, regardless of disability, to be able to experience the sea, the sand and beach life.

Accessibility is fully developed. Floating paths of sturdy polypropylene run from the seawall right to the water's edge, allowing a wheelchair or mobility scooter to roll comfortably across the sand. A loan service provides beach wheelchairs, bath wheelchairs with large air tyres and parasols free of charge on presentation of an ID card. Companions help with entering the water for those who want to swim. An accessible cabin with shower, toilet and changing table is on the seawall right next to the zone. Reserve a time slot in advance, especially in July and August.

The car park beneath the Knokke Casino is connected to the seawall by lift and has many accessible spaces. By the Coast Tram the beach is easy to reach. Combine with a walk along the seawall and a visit to the accessible Knokke-Heist Beach or the Zwin nature reserve a few kilometres away.
