♿ Wheelchair accessible

The Vossegat is a nature reserve on the southern edge of Heist-op-den-Berg with ponds, wet meadows and woodland. It is a quiet area popular with bird watchers and walkers seeking a local nature experience. Thanks to active management, a varied landscape with rare plant and animal species is developing here.

Accessibility is partial. The access track and the main path around the pond are wide and semi-paved, and easy to navigate for wheelchair users in dry weather. Further into the area the paths become narrower and include a few wooden passages and grass field routes. Elevation differences are limited. At the main entrance an information panel marks the adapted loop.

A free car park lies at the entrance along Vossegatstraat with several spaces close to the entrance. There are no accessible toilets on site; the nearest are in the centre of Heist-op-den-Berg. The Vossegat is recommended for those who wish to combine a quiet nature walk in the Antwerp Kempen with a visit to the hilltop town.
