Restaurant Jean-Luc Zuhause Ostend
Restaurant Jean-Luc Zuhause is a personal project by chef Jean-Luc Danheux in the centre of Ostend, within walking distance of the sea dyke. The kitchen focuses on fresh fish from the North Sea and Belgian seasonal produce, served in a homely setting with an understated interior that brings to mind a hospitable living room. Menus change according to what is available at the fish auction and are paired with a considered wine list.
The entrance is step-free thanks to an integrated ramp, and the door is wide enough for a wheelchair. The restaurant's limited capacity means that booking is essential; on request a table is arranged with extra manoeuvring space. The ground floor offers an adapted toilet with grab rails, a low washbasin and enough turning space. Guests who need additional support are personally assisted by the chef or the front-of-house manager.
The restaurant is in a quiet side street a few hundred metres from the Albert I promenade. Parking is possible at Parking Mercator or in the underground car park beneath Wapenplein, both equipped with a lift and adapted spaces. The Coastal Tram from De Panne or Knokke stops at Marie-Joséplein, a few minutes' roll away over level pavement.
