Le Moulin du Val-Dieu

Le Moulin du Val-Dieu is a charming tavern-brasserie housed in the historic mill buildings of Val-Dieu Abbey at Val-Dieu 298 in Aubel, in the Pays de Herve region. The abbey was founded in 1216 by Cistercian monks and the mill forms an integral part of this impressive heritage complex. The restaurant serves honest regional dishes, homemade desserts, and the renowned Val-Dieu abbey beers, brewed on site. In fine weather, a large terrace offers views of the abbey gardens.

Accessibility at Le Moulin du Val-Dieu is well arranged. The main entrance to the restaurant is step-free and the ground floor offers ample space for wheelchairs. There is an adapted toilet on the ground floor with grab rails and sufficient manoeuvring space. The terrace is also flat and accessible. Parking is close to the entrance with adapted spaces. The paths around the abbey are partly unpaved, which can be challenging in wet weather.

Le Moulin du Val-Dieu is set in the green rolling landscape of the Pays de Herve, approximately ten kilometres from Aubel and fifteen kilometres from Verviers. The complex is best reached by car. There is ample free parking with adapted spaces close to the entrance. The abbey itself and the surrounding gardens make for a pleasant day-trip destination.
